Meet our new We Belong Here project manager, Nia Liggins
Civic Commons is excited to welcome Nia Liggins, the new project manager for We Belong Here.
Originally from Los Angeles, Nia (she/her) has a wealth of experience in designing and implementing inclusive engagement strategies, facilitating discussions across diverse communities, and translating complex policy issues and technical jargon into accessible information. Through her work, she strives to bridge the gap between policies and the communities most affected by them, helping to shape solutions that are not only effective but also rooted in the lived experiences of the people they impact.
Learn more about Nia in the Q&A below, and feel free to drop her a line at n.liggins@civic-commons.org
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I wanted to be a scientist, artist, and the mayor of Los Angeles. I picked being the mayor because everyone else wanted to become the president.
Q: What’s one thing people might not know about you?
A: The first vehicle I ever rode in was a helicopter. Was it for a medical emergency? Yes. Did I almost die? Yes, but it is still a fun fact!
Q: if you could grab coffee with any seattleite, past or present, who would it be?
A: Takashi Hori, the previous owner of the Panama Hotel in CID. I want to know what it was like seeing Japanese families return for their belongings after being released from internment camps.
Q: What’s something you’re involved in that other people should know about?
A: When I have the time, I love supporting the amazing work being done by Rainier Avenue Radio at the historic Columbia City Theater.
Q: What’s the first place you take out-of-town visitors?
A: The newly remodeled waterfront! It’s so pretty and I contributed to that project.
